Meet Dr Nima Sattari
I am a private tutor specialising in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, with an academic background spanning Applied Physics, Computer Science and Telecommunications. I hold a BSc in Applied Physics, an MSc in Computer Science (Networking), and a PhD in Telecommunications from King's College London. I also hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate.
My academic background has given me a strong foundation across mathematics, physics and technology, which I bring into my teaching to help students understand challenging concepts clearly and develop the ability to think through problems independently.
My Approach
Over the years, I have found that students make the greatest progress when they understand why something works, rather than simply learning a method to reproduce in an exam. I therefore take time to uncover gaps in understanding and build knowledge carefully from the foundations, while encouraging students to become more confident and independent in their learning.
I also believe that high standards and encouragement should go hand in hand. Students should be challenged to do their best, but they should also feel supported when they find something difficult. My aim is to create the balance between challenge and support that allows students to make lasting progress.
Experience That Matters
With more than 20 years of private tutoring experience, I have developed a clear understanding of what helps students make sustained academic progress. I started tutoring in 2002 while completing my PhD, and since then I have worked with students preparing for GCSE, IGCSE and A-level examinations. This experience has given me a practical perspective on the demands students face and the importance of adapting tuition to their individual circumstances.
A Partnership in Learning
Successful tuition is a two-way commitment. I provide the knowledge, guidance and structure, but students also need to be willing to engage, practise and work consistently. Regular attendance and a serious approach to each session are essential for making meaningful progress; private tuition works best when it is treated as a commitment rather than something that can be cancelled or changed whenever convenient.
I work particularly well with students who are prepared to work hard, respond to guidance and take their studies seriously. When tutor and student are both committed to the process, lessons become more than preparation for an exam — they become an opportunity to develop the confidence, discipline and habits needed for continued academic progress.
